Batik is the traditional art of applying hot wax to fabric which acts as a resist-medium when dyed. The craft has a rich history, mainly in Indonesia but is also popular in China, Japan, India, Africa and parts of Europe. I use a tchanting tool to apply the liquid hot wax and the colours I use are Procion MX dyes. I am a member of The Batik Guild and I offer workshop tuition for small groups or on a one-to-one basis from my home-studio in Ripley, Derbyshire: See www.atticbatik.com or contact me.
